About Cathy

A Personal Approach to Yoga and Wellbeing

As a practitioner of yoga for more than 20 years, Cathy helps you embrace your whole self, face your fears, and empower your mind.

Whether you approach yoga for strengthening, balancing, or empowering your mind, at Yoga Healing Therapy, we cater to your needs with yoga that includes asanas (postures), pranayama (breath work), mudras (symbolic gestures), mantras, meditation, and yoga philosophy.

Cathy is passionate about yoga, particularly in understanding how the mind works.

From an early age, she understood that if only she could control her mind “stuff”, she would be happy. Cathy realised that happiness has nothing to do with external events, people, possessions, or money, but with our own perception of the world around us. She was determined to find happiness within herself.

Then, in 1999, yoga came into her life through the Art of Living, marking the beginning of an incredible journey. Since then, she has travelled many times to India, the land of yoga, trained as a yoga teacher with 200-hour and 300-hour certifications, and trained in Ayurveda, “the science of life”.

During her travels, she encountered many inspirational teachers and is deeply grateful to them for sharing their knowledge and wisdom of yoga. She continues to be a lifelong student of yoga for self-realisation.

Cathy views yoga as a powerful healing tool that can be applied in all aspects of life, contributing to the growth of the physical and spiritual self, and highlighting our interconnectedness to each other, the world, and the universe.

Having experienced first-hand how the often-forgotten science of breath can positively impact physical, mental, and emotional health, Cathy is committed to helping you develop a better relationship with your breath. This, in turn, allows you to control your mind and heal your body in a kind and nurturing way. She is dedicated to sharing her passion and knowledge of yoga and Ayurveda to help you regain a perfect balance of mind, body, and soul for optimal health and well-being, leading to lasting happiness.

Cathy believes yoga is for everybody and for all ages. Her clients come from all over the globe with their unique bodies and mindsets. They include individuals suffering from stroke, cancer, weight gain, cerebral palsy, stress, depression, and lack of energy, as well as those who want to find their purpose in life.

You are never too young or too old to start yoga. No matter what brings you to explore the science of yoga, she will design a specific programme to take you from where you are to where you want to be.

Cathy uses leading-edge biomechanics, functional anatomy, and creative patterns of movement to support optimal strength, flexibility, and vitality in the body.

She emphasises the spirit of the breath and practices of meditation to cultivate a clear mind, an expansive heart, and alignment with source connection. Her teaching is light, humorous, and joyful. Her classes, workshops, and retreats are inspirational, life-changing, and fun!

Her professional credentials

Here is the definition of yoga from the yoga sutras of Patanjali (sutra 1:2)

Yogas-citta-vrtti-nirodhah
Yoga is the control of thought-waves in the mind
– Sutra 1:2

  • It is not about being flexible – you become flexible.
  • It is not about being in control – you learn to surrender.
  • You become a better, healthier, happier, empowered, compassionate, loving being.
